Everybody is different. U may not get the same 'full' feeling u had before. I was banded 8/17/11 and have 4cc's in my band. I can still eat as much of anything that I want and I have lost 39 pounds . I eat differently and am more concious of my choices. But I still eat suprisingly alot of food at each meal. Im not complaining. The fat girl in me loves it. My doctor says that its ok, the idea isnt to get 'stuck' and be miserable. He says the goal is not to snack and not feel hunger between meals. I feel like this is too easy and I must be doing something wrong. I can only hope its this easy forever.

you have not had a fill yet, your appetite is back and you are healed, no longer swollen. i went through the same thing. just wait until you get your first fill and you will see a small difference. sometimes it takes several fills to get good restriction. you are doing fine and it is normal. just watch what you eat and try not to go back to your old habits.

It is tough at first because once your swelling from surgery goes down you have no restriction, so you really have to be disciplined and continue watching your portions and what you are eating. I know everyone is different but even after my first fill I did not feel any restriction ~ I didn't really feel any real restriction until my 3rd fill. The beginning of your journey is tough, just be strong, stick to your diet and just know there is light at the end of the tunnel. You did all this work don't go back to fast food and junk, you came too far! Nothing is wrong with a treat now and then, just hang in there! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
