Dr. Marina Kurian - LAP-BAND? Personalized Patient ID Card

Recommended Posts

Hello, Friends!!!

I was banded by Dr. Kurian on 10/13/2011. I did not receive the LAP-BAND® Personalized Patient ID Card. WhenI read other people's posts, they talk about that ID.

Did any of you get the ID from Dr. Kurian? And if yes, when did you get it?

Thank you,

Marishka

Hello,

My name is Lisa Robinson...OK I just found this out last night..At your pre op surgery appointment they should have given you a temp card, if they did not however do that then call, Allergan @ 1-800-LAP-BAND and have the following info., Lap-Band System Size, Surgery Date, Surgeons Name, Surgeon's Telephone Number, Valid Email Address and let them know you need your Patient ID Card it allows you to get smaller portions at resturants and you should bring it with you for doctor appointment and hospital procedures as well as MRI's and medical emergencies!!! How this helps!!!

Lisa :D

Dear Lisa,

Thank you very much for your response! I it soooo nice to know that you are not talking to the wall or to the emptiness :). On Monday 11/14, I am going for my first feel and I will ask the doctor about the card or the info. Maybe it is weird, but I do not have any info about the system size of the Lap-Band I have... They did not give me any info and I was not in a condition to ask them before I left after the surgery (my Mom was admitted into the same hospital at the same time and my spouse was running back and forth between us, going from 13th Floor of my building and to 13th Floor of another building; NYU Medical Center is like a city by itself).

There is another thing, I lost 14lb withing 10 days prior the surgery being on a liquid diet and 13lb within 1.5 weeks after the surgery with the same diet. But ever since I started the mushy food and solid after, I lost ... nothing (to be exact, I would gain, loose, gain, loose...). I started walking with my friend last week. I control portions. I consume ~ 800 kkal, drink at least 9 glasses of Water. AND NOTHING...

I know that it will come, but I was loosing soooo good; It is almost 4 weeks since my surgery...

Thank you so much, Lisa, for your help and support.

Warm regards,

Marina

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
