one week post op

Recommended Posts

at my one week post op,,,for first 5 days post op, had hard time getting in my fluids and liquids overall, but on day 5 it appeared that this went away and i am able to drink normal. Is this just me healing,,due to holidays i do have an earlier than normal fill on the 21st, i would like to feel like i have some form or restriction. Would love to hear any others experiences, my wife is 10 days ahead of me and states she has full ravenous appetite back, I do not have that, but am worried that without restriction i will revert to former eating patterns. could use any support that exists out there,,,,thanks guys

The stomach tends to swell right after surgery, so I think after the swelling goes down, it feels like you can eat/drink more than immediately after surgery. yes, it is you healing. Try your BEST to stick to the diet and do what the doctors have told you. I struggled a lot before my first fill, feeling the same as your wife. Tell her to hang in there, this is a very long process, try not to get discouraged. The hunger will lessen as the fills come. The first month after surgery is the hardest and will test your will power like no other. Good luck and remember, each day is a new one!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
