Hi all,

I was banded on 9/1 and have 4cc's in my 10cc band. I am scheduled for a fill this Weds. My doc usually does 1cc every 2 weeks. I had to wait 3 weeks because my doc was on vacation and will have to wait another 3 weeks because of Thanksgiving. When I spoke to the PA 2 weeks ago on the phone and told him I had absolutely NO restriction(mini breakdown!), he said he would talk to the doc about getting a bit more aggressive with the next fill. I really want to get this thing working but I'm also nervous about an overfill so I'm not sure if I should push the issue of more than 1cc. Any advice from you guys? I know a lot of you have been here. I'm thinking that with absolutely NO restriction, how much of a problem can an extra cc be, but you never know.

Thanks!

NY Bandster - you most likely don't wan't more than 1 CC at a time. sometimes it takes up to 2 days for the fill to take effect. I would get 1 CC and book for 3 days later or the following week. Good luck & I hope you get restriction.

Cheers,

Kristi

It seems to me that surgeon's fill at different rates based on their preferences and experiences. My surgeon has given me different fill amounts ranging from 0.5 to 2.5cc depending on my restriction. At my last fill he gave me 1cc and talked about how different people react to the same amount differently so he is always working on an educated guess based on his experience with thousands of band patients.

It took me many years to gain all of my weight so I know it is going to take time for me to lose it. So far my journey has been quite easy and definitely successful. I hope yours will be too.

Good luck.

Meh. You can see in my sig that my doctor's practice is pretty aggressive about fills. I know every practice is different but I really don't think that getting more than 1 cc at a time is a cause for disaster. The truth is that nobody knows what a "good" level will be or how your body will react to each fill.

You can let him fill you with a little more then 1 cc, and have a glass of Water for this. They will put Fluid in while you sit up and drink, then when it gets to feel tight, motion with your hand to back off, and they will take it out until you feel comfortable.

I just had a fill done last week this way. It's not uncommon, and somewhere with your Band ,you will have this done. They can open, and close you up while you are drinking to your feeling ! Not just a number.

It worked out nice....

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
