Anyone tried popcorn??

Recommended Posts

I am trying to mentally prepare myself for the foods I wont be able to tolerate after I get my band. One I was especially wondering about is popcorn. Anyone tried this?

I eat popcorn all the time. But I only have 1cc in a 10 cc band. Maybe that will change when I'm filled tighter. Just don't forget that you won't be having anything to drink with the popcorn. That took some adjusting for me.

I was told by my nutritionist that we weren't to eat popcorn,

but my binder says that air popped is OK. I have a big, almost

professional machine and my grandkids made a big batch which

I ate about half of with no ill effects. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else, but it worked for me, just watch the calories.

I don't have problems eating popcorn. In fact if anything it can be a slider food.< /p>

Love popcorn. Eat it all the time, and I have a tight band. But like anything, cannot eat anything too much too fast, or else!

Yup!

It's one of those very few things that goes right through my band. Kind of like yogurt and ice cream. I can "cheat" with it. I've eaten whole bags before after the band. I don't suggest this, but this is my experience with it. Doesn't bother me at all. :) Just chew well!

I had a few handfuls of it at a carnival the other day. Ate it slowly. It was soooo good. Nice and salty, perfectly popped and seasoned. If my son hadn't grabbed it, I would have tried to eat a little more.

But so far no problems. Not craving it either.

Slider for me also. I can practically inhale it.

The good thing about it is that at least the ones that come in the bag are generally low cal. It's only one hundred and something calories for the whole bag, which in the scheme of things, isn't all that bad. We could, you know, inhale ice cream that slides instead. -shrug-

I'm happy that I'm not the only one! I thought I was alone on the popcorn thing! I always get so scared that I've stretched my band, but then I sit down to my next meal and I can eat normally (for a banded person), so I don't think I have. xD It still scares me though.

What other slider foods have you encountered? I'm just curious since you've had the band so much longer than me.

I have found popcorn is okay for me, but need to stay away from kernals that have not completely popped. I stick to the white part of the popcorn, only. Good luck if you like, Karen

I eat popcorn as my "treat" about 1x every 2-3 weeks - can eat a whole microwave bag (not single serve - the big one) - buttered - again, a rare treat - one of my only treats. I only have 5.5 ccs in 14 cc band and hardly any restriction yet - i go for another fill this tues. and am curious to see if i will still be able to eat it (right now i can eat anything but fill up faster so eat less). ;)

popcorn, apparently, is a slider food for me too... I like the Smart Pop bags of microwave popcorn... much lower calories & fat than the regular bags out there.

No problem here either....I consider it one of my slider foods. I do not buy it or keep in the house - I would eat it all the time.

I eat popcorn a lot. On days when I'm tight my go to food is popcorn. But it is definatly a slider food!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
