Should I or shouldn't I?

Recommended Posts

I am a self pay and my first three fills are free as long as I get them within 90 days from my banded date. I had my second fill yesterday. We tried 1 cc but it was too much (water didn't go down) so she backed a little out so I ended up with .8cc's. She made my next fill appt for 11/18 (because that will be day 90), they usually do not do another fill after just two weeks but they will bend the rules for self pay's. She told me that if I don't lose weight over the next two weeks to keep my appt but if I am losing to cancel it. My fills will be $340 each  , yeah....alot of money, so I am debating as to weather I want to cancel my appt even if I'm losing. What is your opinion on this? (Yes, I am aware that you are not doctors, just interested to hear what you would do if you were me). Thanks!!

From all of the horror stories I have heard regarding being too full, even if it is included in the surgery cost, I would pass on a fill that I didn't need. Of course, I am only 5 days post op, so take my opinion as based on research only, not experience.

I am gonna guess you will be good is you were over filled with .2ccs more. But I say keep the appt, its included, and talk to them and see what they say. Can you look for a fill center around you that isn't as expensive for your fills? Or another doctor. Seems so expensive. I think mine are only 185.00

I have had the misery of being too toght for two weeks and it's no picnic..wow only the first three fills were included..I was self pay and my first year is covered..I would ask them if they could some his save that last adjustment for another time...it's ridiculous to think someone would use three fills in 90 days..ugh sorry u have to deal with that..but if they won't let u save it I would not get it...cuz being too tight can lead to other complications..just my two cents

My fills were included for a year but in 90 days I am sure I had at least 3 fills small fills but 1 cc the first time and from then on ½ cc each time. Ask if they charge for a slight unfill if you take it them find out is was a little too much.

I am self pay as well and for me it;s the same. 90 day global period. I got 3 fills within that 90days for no charge and are $180 after the 90days. I just got my 4th fill last week and I was able to make payments towards that fill. I would ask if that works for them. Getting a fill too soon is probably not a good idea. Good luck

Thank you all for responding. I think I'm just going to go in and let them decide what to do. I lost three pounds last week so my weight is coming off but I can still eat more than 1 cup of food (although I stop myself at one cup) and I do get hungry about 3 hours after meals. We will see what they say. It's hard to pass up a free fill, although I don't want to be too tight. I do know there are others on here that can get a fill within two weeks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
