Gas pains after a fill??

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am wondering if there is a relation between a fill and gas pains? Other than the gas related to surgery, I have not had any issues with it-I'm 7 months out. I got my 2nd fill a few weeks ago and since then have noticed a few boughts with gas, some severe. I remembered triggers for 2/3 times-one of which was induced by sugar free gum. bad idea. But now today I am having some gas and it almost feels like it's in my back as well, is that even possible? could it be related to the fill or is this just something triggering it? Thanks for your help!

I can't see how fills, by themselves, could cause gas, more likely something in

your diet. Have you been drinking Protein Shakes? Has anything in your diet changed?

I haven't had any fills (no hunger) so maybe someone with more experience

will come along.

i Had my first fill today (banded 8/31), and i too am noticing some gas issues. My husband has had the band for over years and to this day he still gets gas after a fill. Dr. says it is normal, and just your stomach adjusting to the pressure that the newlly tightened band may be causing. It should only last a day of so, anything more than that, you may want to speak to your Dr.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
