My boyfriend and I have been TTC for about 6 months now. I recently discovered that i have PCOS. My doctor put me on birth control, which wasn't exactly what i wanted. ( We have one child together already) He said that because I have been pregnant before, most likely i should be able to get pregnant now. When/ before i was pregnant i weighed about 60 pounds less and i didn't have PCOS at the time ( Or at least no signs of it )

So i had a few questions....

1. Has anyone used Clomid?

2. Does it come in a generic form?

3. What drugs/pills did you use?

4. Any advice?

1. Has anyone used Clomid? yep!

2. Does it come in a generic form? It does, the generic name is Clomiphene.

3. What drugs/pills did you use? We used clomid laugh.gif We also did a variety of other fertility treatments including IUI, injectible follicule stimulating meds, and acupuncture. In the end none of it worked for us, both of my girls were conceived without any interventions.

4. Any advice? Losing weight is the BEST thing you can to to kick-start ovulation if you have PCOS.

1. Has anyone used Clomid? we used it twice, the first dose wasnt strong enough, so she upped the dose and it worked

2. Does it come in a generic form? It does, the generic name is Clomiphene.

3. What drugs/pills did you use? We used clomid laugh.gifWe did a iui, a shot to trigger me to ovulate. The clomid did work. We have boy/girl twins that are about to be 4 on Dec. 14th. I have had pcos for about 11 years. Its weird, my periods completely stopped coming. I have been banded 8 months now and lost 70 pds. My periods are back to normal, coming once a month. Its so weird what the extra weight does to your body.

Good luck on ttc.

If you have any ?'s please feel free to contact me.

I've been banded since July. I have had PCOS for a long time and had to go on Metformin to get pregnant with my daughter 5 years ago. My periods used to be irregular, sometimes 6 weeks apart, sometimes 8 weeks apart, never regular. Since banded and lost some weight, my periods are coming every 4th Saturday. I could almost bet the farm that I would start yesterday, and I did! My PCP said to be very careful b/c I was fertile. I can tell my hormones are regulating themselves due to the weight loss. You didn't say in your post if you were banded or not. If you are, give it some time before you spend a lot of money on treatments. If you are not banded, it is definitely a good prospect for multiple reasons. Good luck and keep us posted.

Before you walk away from the idea of treatment for infertility, I'd atleast do an infertility work up with your primary or gyn just to rule out any problems that might prevent you from getting pregnant. Hormonal levels need to be checked, the uterus needs to be looked at and and HSG should be done to check out your fallopian tubes. Hopefuly it will show no polyps or fibroids and a clear set of tubes. Any hormonal abnormalites can be adressed, then maybe you can take things from there. Are you edging twards 30? if you are I'd go sooner rather then later.

I highly recommend finding a Naprotechnology Creighton model fertility Care specialist in your area. They have 3 times higher pregnancy rates than ART or IVF. Yes it is a faith based program, but I promise it's awesome! There is a great video on you tube called new hope for fertility care patients. Best of luck to everyone trying out there in lap band world!

Congrats on the pregnancy!! One of the main reasons I decided to get banded is bc we have been TTC for 4 yrs wo success and dong an infertility work up my hubs and I were told all was ok! Really?!? So I went back to my old obgyn who took some hormonal bloodwork and confirmed pcos which explained so much in regards to the infertility and inability to lose weight. I tried chlomid and metformin and nothing.. While my cycle is regular I can almost bet that I'm not ovulating sooooo while I know banding isn't the miracle cure Im hoping the weight loss will reset the hormones and get all the ovulation gears in motion. I would love to lose 80-100 lbs and thats going to take some time but bc my clock is ticking were going to wait and start trying to conceive at years end. If it doesn't happen then well be ok with it and look at other options. I have nothing to lose at this point.. Just the weight!! And the only thing to gain is a whole new healthier me!

Best of luck! I would deff suggest losing weight first! I lost about 50 pounds ( My first small goal) I really need to lose another 50-75. With the weight loss, you should have success!! I noticed i started to ovualte ( I used the ovulation tests )

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
