Very hard decision in very little time!!!

Recommended Posts

I kinda feel the same way you do. My band is slipped and I will have it repositioned next month. I will see my surgeon this week and ask for some detailed answers. He says only 2% of bands slip. I have a hernia with my stomach at this time which I don't fully understand. I am gonna ask how likely it is to have another hernia and or slip occur.

Your port issue is probably separate from your band slipping. Will your new insurance cover fills or will you have to self pay and if so can you afford to self pay for your fills?

Best wishes to you. Let us know how you're doing!

Joan

I wish you the best! Just said a prayer for you! I too have had some complications... But with my port. I've had three surgeries in three months and will be having another one in 5 weeks to put my new port in, but it's worth it to me. Surgery also takes me a while to feel back to normal, so I understand your hesitation. my family would also tell me to get it removed if I were going through the same thing ad you, but you're right- they don't understand. They just want you to feel better. Hopefully, this surgery will be your last and you'll be back on the road to weight loss.

If it were me, I would do what you're going to do and get it fixed while you have great insurance. Unfortunately, God doesn't tell us what's going to happen in the future(usually) but that's why we have to trust him. wish you the best!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
