I'm curious how many fills it took you to feel restriction?

AND

Over what period of time this took?

Here's my info:

Surgery Date: July 26, 2011 (received a small fill)

1st fill - 4 weeks later - no restriction

2nd fill - 3 weeks later - no restriction

3rd fill - 2 weeks later - still no restriction (I think I'm at 5 cc's)

Next Fill 10/26 (4 weeks later)

i am up to 8cc's and still feel very little restriction i am not even sure what it is suppose to feel like i know everyone talks about the green zone where they eat a small amount and are satisified i hope that comes soon for me because i still have another 100 pounds to lose and only have a 10 cc band i dont think it will give me enough restriction to get me to that goal it seems like i only feel it for like maybe a week and its not even that great then it just goes back to normal the longer i wait for a fill the worse it gets i can eat more and more

I am nowhere near that point because my surgery was 6 days ago. But I have a few questions. How long did it take forvthe gas pain in your left shoulder to be gone? All I have had so far today is a cup of tea w milk. As I sit here, that pain in the shoulder is back. Ive been passing gas since day 3, so does it just take awhile? Does it mean I'm full? I feel kind of hungry. Thanks, Arlene

It took me a long time to get good restriction because i didnt want to drive down to LA to get a fill! 5 hours and crazy traffic! Anyway I have great restriction now with about 8ccs in a 10 cc band. I have had good restriction before but it loosened up as I lost weight and probably lost fat around my band. When I had my surgery the doc gave me some laprascopic pix of the band and WOW was there a lot of yellow nasty fat lumps on my stomach! It looked like the band had a billboard-sized Allergan sign on it! Anyway, I wonder what it looks like now.

Mine took 8 days after the surgery for the pain in my neck to go away. That pain was more intense than the actual surgery pain. Good Luck...:)

I had my surgery on 9/28 and the gas pain lasted a while at least a week and a half for me - I called the doctor because I couldn't handle it anymore, they told me to take GasX and that really helped within a day or 2 after that it went away. I think that was the worst part of it all! Hope this helps you!

Thanks guys. That really helps. And I agree that the shoulder pain feels worse than the five incisions. Though my port will jab if I bend over too quickly.

Good question! I hope this next fill for you will do it! That has got to be frustrating. I have my first fill next Tuesday so I am hoping to feel a little restriction. I have a 14 cc band and the dr. said it may take a little longer to get to my sweet spot. I hope it is sooner than later.

I had my band done on 7/20/11 and I have lost the same 10 pounds from after surgery. If you don't have restriction and you can still lose 63 pounds u have a heck of alot of willpower which is better than restriction. I am supper jealous.

I have had three fills so far. My clinic waits four weeks between each fill. I am hoping to have another fill Nov 2 and I think I will finally be in the green zone. I do not know how much Fluid I have in, my clinic does not like talking numbers unless it's my weight. I am going to ask how many cc's I have this next fill since I think I will not need anymore fills for a bit.

I had my 4 th fill today almost 2 months after my 3rd. I have great restriction I just wanted to get a couple more fills in before the yr ends & my deductible starts all over. My foc fills under fluro.to ensure u don't get over filled.

I have only had one fill, and I was filled from 3.8 cc's to 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I have no real restricition right now, but I felt like I did when I first got the fill. Wondering if it was all in my head...or is it possible I stretched my band? I haven't lost anymore weight since then, and I have another fill scheduled for next week.

Feeling frustrated, but it has barely been 2 months since my surgery. I was banded on August 25th.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
