I'm 2 and a half weeks post op. Just found out that I really have no restriction and went a little (not a lot) overboard today. I'm supposed to be on 600-800 calories a day. I did that and then kept going prob another 300 or 400. I feel fine just mad that I fell off the wagon. Worried that I damaged my band/stomach. Ugh! Feels like old times again. I've lost 22 lbs since surgery. Trying to be positive. Guess this is one of those parts the band doesn't take care of huh??

I'm worried about tomorrow. I've been known to not stop once I start. Slippery slope. Any advise? Words of encouragement?

Dust it off and start anew tomorrow. Remember that you got the band to change your life. Make the change to tell that slippery slope to get lost!! You CAN do this and tomorrow is new day. A lot of us know that slippery slope well, but we have the power in us to make it different this time. I know you will do it. Good luck.

I don't think 300-400 calories over your goal is anything to worry about. You still only ate about 1200 cals, that's within a range that should result in weight loss. I am sure you didn't do any damage to your band, so no worries.

Don't obsese about one bad day. It is not easy, we still have the mindset that food is our best friend in the beginning. It didn't take you one day to gain weight and one day of 1200 will not make your diet fail. I always had the mindset of everything in moderation. Some people totally went healthy post op, but I found for me was not to restict my cravings as long as I don't over do it. My surgery was on 10/29/11 and I weighed 292 and as of this morning 207. Don't rush your weight loss, I find that some rush with weight loss and they end up with lost more loss skin issues.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
