Anyone getting or have gotten a panniculectomy?

Recommended Posts

I saw my Plastic Surgeon and he said that because I have a scar from a gallbladder removal 20 yrs ago, that I couldn't have a full TT. He said that the lower hanging tummy could come off, and how would I feel about losing my belly button. Anyone else been there? What did you do or What would you do?

Hi:

I had insurance coverage for a panniculectomy years ago. I opted to spend the extra money to get a full Tummy Tuck. Personally speaking it was so worth the money. I love my cute little belly button. Is there any reason why he won't do your belly button? Even though I was almost 50 when I had my tummy tuck I still wanted a belly button.

There are pics on my profile page of the before and afters.

The procedure is quite painful, but worth all of the pain.

Best wishes to you.

Sue

I cant have the full TT, I wish I could. Yes, he said that he could make me a belly button if I really wanted it, otherwise I would lose it. I would think that I would miss it after having one for 53+ yrs. how long was ur recovery time. I did hear that it was painful though, Im a whimp! I couldn't find ur before and after pics.

Hi:

It's hard to say what my recovery time was. I was unemployed at the time, so I didn't have to hurry back to work. I think I would have been able to go back to work after two weeks, but I was very tired for months. I do desk work, not physical work. The fatigue was surprising. I had to wait 6 weeks to do any exercise other than walking. It is painful, but so worth it to sit down and not have your lower abdomen touching your legs.

If you click on my name you'll go to my profile. Click on gallery and you'll see my pics.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Sue

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
