Lap Band Friendly Restaurants/Meals

Recommended Posts

I was given a Patient Information card while in the hospital by the Nutritionist it comes from lapband.com with my surgery date, dr & my name. I was told to carry it for medical reasons and for restaurants to allow this person to order smaller portions.. Is this a standard procedure, has anyone used them at a restaurant and what type of response did you get?

I usually order an appetizer to share and Soup, but all the suggestions are very good. I love seafood and it's a great choice. Crab legs always go down well and I agree that they take time to eat. If you order chicken make sure it's not dried out or it can get stuck. Stay away from all bread/pasta items.

Basically no places are off limits- you just need to think small portions and healthy choices.

Yes, I got a card from my physician also. I haven't used the card yet because my husband and I have been trying something new...we order one meal and split it. It saves money and calories. No one notices anything because we also have kids that order adult meals.

Mexican is always a good choice. I ordered 2 tacos the other day and ate about 1.4 of them before getting momentarily stuck. I second the post about it not being good that your mom's retort was that you don't love her. That is a manipulative and odd reaction for a well adjusted person. Next time she says something like that, just say in a very matter of fact way, "yep, guess so" and leave it at that.

I've also found Mexican food to be good. 1 enchilada, I ask for extra Beans and no rice. Usually have enough for two meals. Some people can't eat flour tortillas. Corn tortillas seem better.

Fish is great. I had some red snapper the other day and it went down easily. Soup is always easy too.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
