Hi! I am new here. Just got banded on Sept 22nd and a week later got approved for 1/4 cup portions of "soft" foods. The trouble is that I am feeling great. No fill yet, and I feel like I could literally eat the same thing that I was eating prior to the band placement. I have been sticking to the high Protein diet, but it's so hard to eat only a 1/4 cup! Anyone else having this issue?? I mean -- the whole reason for the band is to help with portions. Really looking forward to that first fill!!

I eat up to a cup of food at a time and am losing well, you just have to find what works for you.

My doctor has never given cup measurements for mushies or solids. Instead he said to weigh them, 3 oz. So my experience was to measure 3 oz of cottage or ricotta cheese. At day 11 however I was still at 1 cup of Soups like Tomato or squash per meal and 1 Protein Shake. Until you get fills this will be a will power diet. The band is doing absolutely nothing for you right now.

My dr said 1-1 1/2 cups of food... I couldn't get all that in though. Everyone is different. Find what works best for you, just dont go crazy :-) you'll figure it out soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
