Working Hard Before Surgery is Paying Off...

Recommended Posts

I have taken the past several months before my surgery (November 2011) to really focus on me and get in the habit of exercising and eating better when I wait for the 6 month insurance required waiting period. I hit a huge milestone this morning that I have to share. I stepped on the scale and it read 299.7. I stepped off and got on again and it still read 299.7. Was I really finally under 300lbs??? I have not been under 300lbs in about 10 years. I stood, looking in the mirror watching the tears of joy run down my face. I felt proud and excited. I cannot wait to feel many more of these moments as the weight continues to come off. I hope to lose another 10lbs before my surgery mid November.

This brought tears of happiness to my eyes. Congrats! Very inspirational post. I'm just starting my 6 months pre-op and I think I'll follow your example. Thank you!

Thank you all for your kind words. I was bummed at first that I had to wait the 6 months, but it really has been a great time for self reflection and change :-)

Thats awesome!!!!! I am on my two pre-Op diet (shock to my system) but it is paying off!!! I have dropped 6lbs in a week, so I'm sure when you get to that part of your journey you will see another sizeable drop. I am scheduled for October the 10th but havent gotten my confirmation time, as the suguery scheduler was behind when I was in for my last consultation with the surgeron. So they will call me Monday with the time. I'm ready to go.... get this show on the run. Good luck to you and keep me posted. This pre-Op diet is a challenge but I'm learning to be creative to give me the satisfaction my body needs to stick with it. :)

Great work. Results like that will give you motivation to keep going when/if you have to do a pre-op diet and then through liquids and mushies after surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
