I was on my Treadclimer this morning no Breakfast too tight in the AM. Had some ice cold Water after my routine. My stomach was upset then had the dry heaves for a few minutes. Only thing that came up was mucus. Now sipping on hot chocolate to ease the stomach. My band has had the same fill for over a year at 4.4 cc. My doc has a very hard time accessing my port so I do not get fillls or unfilled as much as I use to. My current weight has been at 195 for over a year. Since having the band in April of 2003 I have lost a total of 63 libs. I am a slow loser. For a new years resolution I have started a good work out for 5 days a week over the last 3 weeks. I know the band is just a tool. So now I am trying to do my part to loose the over 50 lbs.

Sounds like you just had a spasm. I can still have those everyone once in a while, and it's usually cold Water that does it. Don't worry, it's nothing harmful and nothing to worry about unless it leaves residual symptoms or gets worse. Take it easy for the day, maybe have Soup for lunch and something soft for dinner, and you'll be fine. :)

Thanks is scared the crap out of me. I have an appointment with another MD to see if he can access my port. My MD wants to do another surgery so he can access it more easily. I have a hard time wanting to go thought another surgery. Especially hearing about port infections. I had a close call when my port was fixed back in 2003. So I an not sure about having it moved to another location. Currently it is 2 fingers above my navel and I carry most of my fat in my mid section. Even under fluro my current MD can not access. I asked about trying ultrasound but he refused. His technique is not the best. I feel like he can do Lipo suction on me during the port access moving the needle up and down. Says he is trying to locate the borders of my port. Someone else decribed it best a plunger technique. You should see the bruise I get. Last access try I just said forget it and have not gone back to see him since.

I agree with Alex. Drinking ice Water on an empty stomach will make me feel sick, let alone after exercising. Drink lots of water throughout your exercising but drink cool - not ice cold - water and dont chug it.

Extreme temperatures just aren't so good for any stomach, banded or not. As P'Nut said, we only ever drink our Water cool at best, frequently room temperature.

When I work out I always drink room temperature water because its less of a shock to the system. Remeber that the water is there for hydration, not to reduce your temperature!

(also, its a little known fact that cold drinks can raise your body temperature. Your metabolism has to step up to try and raise the heat of your stomach back to normal operating temperature. This is one of the prime reasons why hot countries drink a lot of tea :) )

HMMMMMmmm...

I have always been told otherwise.

Obviously, if it makes one sick, do not do it, but,

In order to raise the temp of the Water you drink (ice cold) it takes heat. To make heat, the body must use calories. I was always told to drink ice cold water while I worked out, as it would indeed cause me to burn more calories, as my body tried to "heat up" the cold Fluid. That's what I was always told, and that's what I do, but hey... that's just me!

Paul, the tea thing makes complete sense. I can dig it man.

BTW digging is great exercise!

Am I rambling?

BTW... Yea STEELERS!!!!!!

Cold Water could definitely have done it. Chugging cold water is one of the best ways to get a "stuck" sick stomach unstuck (I don't mean band stuck, I mean when you're sick but just can't get it to come on out).

Paul - yes, the belief is that drinking cold fluids lowers your internal temperature, and your body has to expend that much more energy (calories) to bring it back up.

Likewise, eating or drinking something hot could increase your body's temperature and may quicken your metabolism (anything that raises your body's temperature can quicklen your metabolism), but not enough that you'll ever see a real difference.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
