Need help getting back on track

Recommended Posts

Hi all ~

I had lapband surgery in October 2008. I lost 54 lbs after surgery and all while my husband was deployed in the desert. After he came back my weight loss stalled. It has been about two years since I have seen my doctor (horrible, I know). I have gained back about 15 pounds in those two years and I never got to my goal initially. Its time for me to get back on track, start following the rules and guidelines. I do still have restriction but I tend to take a drink to wash it down and keep eating. unsure.gifFrom day one I have struggled with not drinking during a meal. It sounds easy enough but its tough for me. That is one rule I need to start implementing for sure. I'm sure that alone would really help.

I have started the process of getting a new referral to see my surgeon. It took a long time for me to make that step and I am so proud of myself for making the phone call. Its time to get back to using this tool again.

Positive support always welcome rolleyes.gif

brianna, you're doing great! we all have our reasons as to why we get off track. What counts is that you are getting back on track. In my local support group, there are a couple of folks who have been banded for many years and for one reason or another got off the wagon.

they too have expressed nervousness and embarrassment over not staying in contact with the team/surgeon, but reached down within themselves and picked up the phone to call and make an appointment with the doctor and various team members.

not one person said anything negative, rather they congratulated them on making the steps that they had and were taking to get back on track.

know that you are not alone and it is ok to forgive yourself and continue to move forward. Wishing you the best.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
