Fill Bruising

Recommended Posts

Ok I had terrible luck with first fill, only because I waited a total of 5 hours at the hospital and the doctor never showed up on 2 occasions. BLAH.. Anyways I do not feel the needle going in or any pain, because that area is still numb I am guess from the nerve ending have not grown back or never will. On to fill number 2 ... once again did not feel any pain, there was .5cc put in and afterward a small amount of bruising. I am thinking it is from the pressure of the port and the needle connecting. Well as the days go on the bruise is getting larger and darker in the middle turning purple. It was a simple briuse small at firsy like if you bumped your arm, now it looks like 2in by 2 in like someone punched me.. It has been 5 days since fill. Is this normal? Or has anyone had this? Just a little worried since it seems to be getting worse. Thanks.

It sure does not sound very normal to me. I have never even had a tiny purple spot after a fill, and I bruise easy.

If I figit and move and tense my muscle when I get a fill I get mega bruising that usually takes amost 2 weeks to go away.

I remember when I used to get Vitamin shots in my stomach the same thing would happen. Just try to relax. Even if you can't feel the needle you might tense up anticipating it causing the bruising.

My first fill had very little bruising but my 2nd one looked like I'd been punched. Took 2 weeks for the bruise to go away. It started small but it got to be the size of a fist before it finally started to get smaller. Hoping fill #3 doesn't look too bad when I go tomorrow.

I am super fair skinned and when I get a fill or unfill, it looks like someone beat me up. A lot of it depends on how easy it is for the physician to hit the hole in the port and your body tissue can be really sensitive. In the 18 months I've had my band, i always bruise...badly. And I have a great doctor who definitely knows what he is doing. Call your doctor if you are truly concerned. That's what we pay them for! Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
