Can't keep proteins down after my last fill

Recommended Posts

After my last fill which was 4 days ago I still can't eat solid Protein unless I force myself to keep it down. I can eat some deli meats, but even that rough and I can do one thin slice. So other then my 24 hour liquids after my fill all I can eat is salad and curtons and my piece of deli meat. I plan on trying fish tomorrow. Only because I still don't feel I have that much restriction in my band but is that only because I can't get the protein in? Can anyone think of any other sources of protein besides chicken/turkey and shakes?

The band relys on firm Protein to keep it busy and us full....if you can't tolerate firm Proteins then I strongly advise you to get a small unfill while it is still time to get it for free. Even 0.15 ml unfill may be enough to put uou at your sweet spot. I am afraid you will resort to high calorie slider food if you don't get a small unfill.

Let us know what you do.

Try fish. I like tilapia. Bake it with some marinade (whatever you like) and then I kind of mush it up and chew well. tuna fish salad, Egg salad, chicken salad. Chew, chew, chew. Keep trying things also. For me some days I can eat chicken fine and then the next it comes up. If you still can't get stuff down, I would say ask the doctor. Maybe a small unfill is needed! Good Luck! :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
