Banded on 9/6 and doing good except for soreness, bloatiness and a rash that is going all over my stomach. I have never been allergic to anything. Just curious if anyone else has experienced? Knows what is causing it? Thanks!!!!!

Congrats fellow bandster I was banded on the 6th also. I'm not sure what the rash could be I don't have a rash. I would definitely talk to your surgeon or the assistant whoever you can get in touch with.

I was banded on the 7th and I don't have a rash on my stomach, but I do have one on my face!! It's red, raised, and itchy! Yikes!! My stomach is itchy at the incision sites but I'm sure that's due to healing. This crud on my face though, is horrid!!

If that rash is warm or you have a temperature then you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. You could have a skin infection. I don't want to scare you but it is better to be safe than sorry.

If it is a rash that is related to a medication they have put you on then the hospital can change the medication. If it is an infection then they can put you on antibiotics.

I would err on the side of caution and get seen sooner rather than later.

I am speaking from experience. 3 weeks after I was banded I developed a pale pink rash near my port wound (above my port and just in that local area). It was a little itchy and slightly warm to the touch. 29 days later I have been through a round of antibiotic ointment, a week of cipro and 12 days of another antibiotic - I forget the name right now. The rash is healing and hopefully will be gone soon but it has been a slow healing process.

I wish you all the best and like I said - I hope it is absolutely nothing but only a doctor or your surgeon can tell you that so I would make the trip to see someone.

I agree you should get it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry. I have issues with the surgical dressings - they always make me itch but it doesn't normally spread. As the above posters have said it could be the meds, it could be an infection , it could be anything. Only your Dr can tell.

Please, please, please call your doctor. Lapband is a simple procedure but still has the risks that all surgeries have.

I was banded 8/19 and got an itchy rash all over my stomach as well as under my breasts. I went to my pcp 8/24 and was told that I had a yeast infection rash under my breasts but the stomach rash was some type of contact dermatitis. She gave me over-the-counter yeast cream and a medicated powder for my breast rash but nothing for the rest of my stomach since I had the 5 incisions and didn't want to interfere with the healing. When I went to see my surgeon on 8/29 she said the rash was likely from the glue they used to close the incisions. Turns out the patient right before me had the same thing but was worse than mine. Hang in there, it should go away on it's own but keep an eye on it for signs of infection like the other poster suggested.

I was banded on 8/11/11 and I also got a rash over my entire stomach and it itched like crazy. My surgeon said that it is most likely a allergic reaction to something and advised to take benadryl and if it does not get better to call office. The benadryl cleared it up.

Thanks everyone! I just spoke to surgeon and he said it was most likely the allergic reaction to preop and to take benedryl. I really appreciate all the advice!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
