New Bandit

Recommended Posts

Hey people,

I was banded on the 7th July 2011 - and this is my first time on here!

Just wondering how do i get that progress scale that i see around on the bottom of ppl's posts??

Anyway, i've had 2 fills and currently on 6mls/10mls, i can still eat whatever i want, incl bread, nothing gets stuck, no vomiting or reflux so do consider myself lucky...do have restriction in a sense i don't eat as much as i use to but the weight loss is slow...just wondering if i should get another fill or just wait for while?

Pls drop a line, say hi...i'm new to this site, add me haha i've no friends atm!

:)x

Welcome. everyone is different as to how much of a fill they get, etc. I haven't had a fill...but I am determined to get the weight off and want to wait for fills as long as I can so that when my willpower gives up, I have a backup plan I am thinking the band is going to be awesome to help me KEEP the weight off.

For the ticker, click on one and it should take you to the website.

Good luck.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should :) i too can eat most anything - but i do best losing and feeling good about the whole thing when i stick to the basics - 3 meals, 2 shakes a day with lots of Water - follow the no liquids before/during/after ... i usually have 1/2 c of Protein and 1/2 c of fruit or veggie at each meal - i sometimes have 4 saltine crackers at lunch - with my tuna or chicken or shrimp salad - i also exercise 4-5 times a week - the band is just a tool we still have to make good food choices and exercise. the last 2 weeks i have been hungry so i think i'm ready for a fill - my first - i also wanted to wait until the honeymoon wore off some - i think i'm ready!!! good luck just remember to stick to the basics!!!

Glad you are here. I am a newbie to the band too and I am kind of just winging it . I have not had a fill yet; however, my doctor has me at the mushie stage and I am not able to eat much at all. Getting all of my Water and Protein is a chore, but I am sticking with it. Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
