Feeling fullness in stomach and behind belly button - banded almost 4 years

Recommended Posts

I am seeking information about a very strange feeling I have been having the past few days, that I fear is related to my band.

I was banded in February 2007, and have for the most part had a pretty uneventful experience.

I recently started feeling alot of pressure (fullness) in my abdomen, specifically on the left side and behind my belly button - it almost feels like my stomach is folding over the top of my pants when I sit down, and I am wondering if I did something to damage my band? I have gained some of my weight back, but can't imagine that would cause this feeling.

I have not had an adjustment recently, and do not think this feeling is related to the level of restriction that I have. I am still able to eat about the same amount, but am absolutely miserable and scared with this feeling.

If anyone else has had a similar experience, I would greatly appreciate hearing about it.

Thank you,

mommi-hammi

I've not had anything like that, but I will say that the band and apparatus for the port would all be up pretty high compared to your belly button.

Still, many bariatric docs have the fluroscope machines right in their offices now so if you're worried, call and see - if they do, a quick look might put your mind at ease!

Good luck.

I too would say it's not likely band related. Your stomach is really high up, pretty much under your rib cage. Perhaps some sort of digestive issue? I hope it clears up or you get answers soon!

Have you considered getting a CT scan? I was banded june 2010 and in August 2011 I had horrible pain in middle abdomen felt like gas bubble/ side ache. The pain would move from left side, to middle and to the right. My Dr recommended a CT Scan and blood work. The culprit was my tubing, my intestines had flipped over and adhered to the tubing. I had surger to have it repositioned, not a big deal. However 8 weeks later, the pain returned and again I had a CT scan and surgery to shorten the tubing considerably. I just had my post op check up today and I am sore but feeling much better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
