I only ended up with 2 insistions, which is awesome.

Two incisions - navel - about 1.5-2" across the top of the navel, then a tiny 1/4" incision under my right breast to hold the liver back. At this point the 1/4" one is totally gone. The navel one is healing all over again from gall bladder removal at then end of June.

I have 1 incision that is about an inch right above my navel and a dot at 12:00 above that at the bottom of my breast bone. My surgeon used the "Spider technique". Everything is done through the single incision. The dot at the top of my abdomen was for the insufflation of my belly with air. The incision was closed with Dermabond (skin glue). It slowly washed away as I showered. I have to say this was a very easy procedure and I healed in no time at all. I barely had any pain except for the shoulder pain that everyone talks about. In fact... I still get it sometimes and I am 3 months out... But it is not debilitating at all. Just reminds me to not overeat or slow down. Still the best thing I have ever done for myself!

I have 2 incisions, one on my breast bone about 1" and one through my belly button about 2".

I bought Mederma about a month after surgery to reduce the scars. Now the top incision is about 1/4" but barely noticeable. The belly one still hs a pink color, but is getting to normal and it is completely smooth. Its weird cause one side of the cut looks like nothing and the other is still noticeable, lol.

It will depend on your surgeon. The surgeon that I have chosen does his as a single incision through the navel.

Others do it with 5 small incisions.

I have a question. what kind of on inscion is used for the lap band. I have herd diffrent things through people that never had it. I had a robotic hysterectomy last yr and only had four small holes now I am being told that it like a bikini cut and from whar I hear it takes longer to heal is this true?

I have 5 very small incisions. The largest being over the port and it doesn't appear to be much over an inch. The others are tiny.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
