Not sure if I need another fill HELP :)

Recommended Posts

So, I have 5.7cc in my band right now. I am due to see my Doctor on the 31st. Right now, I will eat and have to vomit almost every day but not all day. Eventually, it passes and I am then able to eat a good volume of food an dI do because I feel hungry. It is to the point where I have gained 4 lbs. I feel if this is the case then I do need a fill but then why do I have such isses with getting food stuck the first half of my day????? Any input is appreciated!!!:D

It is very common for your lap band to feel tighter in the morning. It has to do with how your bodily fluids are dispersed while sleeping (more evenly dispersed). As you go throughout the day your fluids shift and release the pressure on your band. I have trouble eating in the mornings, so I normally don't even attempt anything solid. I drink Protein Shakes or eat yogurt or cottage cheese. My doctor also suggested drinking hot tea in the morning to open yourself up. I don't know why, but chai tea does the trick for me every time (I sometimes drink it when I get stuck too). You could also be having a "first bite syndrome," when your first few bites don't go down easily and/or get stuck. I get this a lot. Eat your first few bites VERRRRY SLOWWWWLY and wait a minute or two before taking your next bite. And of course remember to chew! After those first few bites, everything should go down ok.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
