Taking Pills and getting fills! :)

Recommended Posts

I was wondering because I can't remember discussing this with my doctor, if we will ever be able to swallow a pill again. I am off of one medication, which is awesome, but I still have three more and one of them I doubt I will get away with because of weight loss.

Also - I am going to be 2 weeks post op this coming Monday and was wondering when most people start getting fills. I am so hungry on this liquid diet and am looking forward to some more support with my fill.

I don't have a problem with any of my pills. They are from tiny to huge. I can even do 3 or 4 at a time. I do blood pressure which is small, but my multi Vitamin is large. In the early stage I did a chewable but once that bottle was gone I went back to pills.

I also take a handful of pills every day. From thyroid meds to antidepressants to pain pills. I'm also still on 1/2 my dosage of blood pressure pills (hoping to be off soon tho!). I've never had a problem taking them. I have to remember to take them about an hr before I eat tho - just in case I get stuck I won't throw up my pills also. Plus I can't take them after I eat because I can't drink anything for an hour.

Ask your doctor tho. My doc says as long as I can tolerate them, then go ahead and take them.

Good luck!

Marci

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
