How often do you weigh?

Recommended Posts

Alright... the age old question... How often do you weigh? I have been weighing everyday and the ups and downs are beginning to bug me but I like to know the days I lose so I can look back through my diet/exercise plan and see what all I did the previous day. I just wondered what everyone else out there is doing and how it seems to be working for you.

I weighed daily from day-1 and three years later, though I do skip days, I pretty much still do. This truly being an age-old question here on LapBandTalk.com I know from many discussions that there are differing opinions and I came to a conclusion early on that this is very much a personal choice. If you want to weigh daily and can handle the guaranteed ups and downs, then go for it. You will fluctuate a pound or two from time-to-time, even if you have stuck to your plan 100%. I weigh the same time every day, first thing in the morning after using the bathroom. It helped/helps to keep me on track and be aware of how certain foods, my cycle or lazy days can affect my weight.

I have only been banded for 6 days, but I have decided to weigh myself every Thursday morning (which was day of surgery). I would not handle weighing my myself everyday well (with gains)...........I get to easily discouraged.

I weigh myself everyday but only record my weight every week! I wake up, use the bathroom, weigh in. On Thursday's I record it on a note in my phone. :P

I weigh daily but only record the downs, not the ups. So say yesterday I was down .5 but today I was up 1 pound, I just keep the lowest number I saw in my head as my current weight and any other "gain" I chalk up to Water weight or a heavier meal laugh.gif I told my nutritionist I do this and she was amazed, she said most people can't shrug off the "gains" but it really doesn't bother me.

I weigh every day - like the others first thing in the morning after using bathroom - naked just before i get into the bath or shower (LOL). I even take out any hair scrunchies because you never know how much they weigh (double LOL!) My philosophy is for years i avoided the scale and that's how i got into this mess. Even though i am momentarily crushed when the scale is up - especially if i've done everything perfectly right the day before - i still say that weighing every day is what i HAVE to do to stay on track. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL!!!!!!!!!:D

I have been weighing every day since my surgey 2 weeks ago. But I think I am going to put the scale away for a few days. The ups & downs are not easy to see every day. I havent figured out a schedule yet.

My surgery was on a Thursday so I weigh in every Thursday, I dont think I can handle the fluctuations of weighing in everyday. On Wednesday evenings I am usually very anxious like a kid in for a test the next day and the anxiety doesnt subside untill i have weighed the next day and seen a loss.

I weigh myself only on Saturday, I was banded July 25.

I want to jump on the scale everyday but just keep telling myself best to wait to Saturday so I do not have a big let down if by chance I am up.

I just started on solid foods this week so little nervous for Saturday.

I also weigh myself everyday as I too like to know if my weight went up or down. It's sort of a mind game I play, If my weight went up I know I probably ate something I should not have or I need to excerise more. If I lost I look back to see what I did that day to lose

Rachel: I read this answer from you on a post before I got banded last month and have adopted it as my strategy. It keeps me positive!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
