starting over after 5 years of NOT following the rules

Recommended Posts

i found a support group locally and a doctor to do my much needed fills. i was banded in 2004 and initially did ok, but after several months - i regressed to my old eating habits and slowly learned to eat 'around' my band. so, after 7 years and three more children, i am oficially fed up with being overweight and officially dissappointed at myself for not using my tool to help me loose weight. my husband (who is wonderful) is overweight too, and is just now willing to 'eat the plan' with me. i am staring over and going to completely change my eating habits slowly....to prove to myself that i CAN do this....and so my new doctor doesn't think i'm a complete joke!! my husband and i both are going to start the post-op diet tomorrow. any ideas from anyone else with the same or similar situation? any advice would help....thanks in advance

I'm 9 months out of surgery and fighting myself each day. I can totally relate to where you are. I think finding the support group will help tremendously AND having your hubby on board with you will make it a good thing.

Hugs....

It is never too late to rejoin the battle. Use that tool you were given and get back on track. I am almost 4 months out and have been bad this past week. Monthly friend does not help any :)

but tomorrow is a new day and i will be getting back on the wagon and using my tool to get to where i need to be. good luck to you :)

you can do this!!

How lucky are you that now that you are ready you already have your tool in place?!? No surgery or post-op pain. You can just hit the ground running!

You can do this! Best wishes.

I am right there with you! I was banded in 2008 but I have gained all of my weight back after having my 1st child and have no Fluid in my band. I have found a new doctor and will be getting a fill on Tuesday! I KNOW we can do this!

I know exactly how you feel - I was banded in 2007 - lost 100 lbs. - felt great - had to be opened because of bad acid reflux in December 2010 - needless to say, I've been enjoying all the bread and Pasta that was previously forbidden and 40 lbs later, I'm regretting it, so today I get a fill - and really, really reading the boards for inspiration - I know I can do this - did it before - just taking it one day at a time - we can do this - we did before!!!

Congratulations to all of you getting back on the wagon with this great Tool we have! We just need ONE DAY of successes piled up to a healthy weight....I know we can do it!!!!

I went last Thursday for a fill on my 10cc band and am at 5ccs. Wow, what a difference that made! I am recommitted and happy to join you all in our One Day at a Time Journey. I am 308 and hope to be in the 200s by this time next month.

I am making a commitment to write down everything that goes into my mouth.....after realizing this has more to do with habits and comfort, for me, than anything else.

I'm finding ways to stay busy with crafts and have turned our dining room into a craft room. That has been a huge help! Keeps me mentally occupied while those cravings hit and keeps me from feeding them. Oh, and I'm trying to keep my nails looking great. I could do the acrylics but this takes more time and effort on my part and that is what I am wanting. Just staying busy, ya know? And looking for ways to get back to my old self and old ways....I don't remember eating way back then!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
