Getting Banded 8/24 Really Nervous about after pain

Recommended Posts

I was banded yesterday at 2:00. Came home at 6:00. Hasn't been bad. Incisions don't hurt at all. Not to much gas, just under my port. No shoulder pain so far. Walking really helps. You'll be fine. God bless.

Wow, congratulations Bobrocky! Four hours from Soup to nuts - that's pretty amazing. To think that I considered it pretty extreme getting kicked out into the rain at 0600 on the morning after my banding... Good luck, keep the posts coming.

Feeling nervous is normal - as one bander said - her doc told her he's be more concerned about her if she WASN'T nervous! LOL!

The good news is this list is loaded with banders who can tell you, while not totally pain free, it is manageable and recovery for the vast majority of us was really fast. I had shoulder pain and was given pain killers but when I got home only used them for 24 hours! I threw out the rest. Honest!

My mantra as I was wheeled into the operating room was, "This too shall pass." And it did! A whole lot faster than I expected!

Hang in there - and you too will be encouraging the next frightened pre-bandster too!

My husband and I are having our surgeries on August 26!!! I am getting very excited and I know the day before surgery and the day of surgery I will be an emotional wreck. But, I know this too shall pass! I am excited to get on this new journey to a healthy us! I am here for you... Best of luck and let me know how you do.

I can't believe it is only 10 more days until my banding. I have waited so long and had totally committed to the journey. I quit smoking back in June and went to all my appointments and did everything I was supposed to. Now I am nervous reading all the posts on after pain. i am a big baby and I burned my arm tonight while cooking and groaned about the pain for over an hour. I am also pertrified to be put under anesthesia with the tube down my throat and all. I keep thinking what if I don't wake up, what if something goes wrong. I hope this is normal pre thoughts because I have come to far to ruin it all. My youngest who is 11 is very unhappy that I am going to do this and that doesn't really help but I no she loves me and is just scared.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
