Just wondering if anyone has PCOS and if it got better after dropping a lot of weight. Also, did it help your infertility and/or reduction in excess hair!?!

I have not been diagnosed with PCOS but I want a baby soon. I am 5 weeks post op. I have NEVER had a period without being on birth control which defeats the whole purpose of trying to get pregnant lol. I hope after losing some weight I will get a period :) Good luck!

I have PCOS and for me its too soon to tell. I still have facial hair that grows dispite the 30lb weighloss. No period yet but I've only been banded for 2.5 months. My health is better. My BP is good and I'm not eating alot of carbs or sweets.

I have PCOS. I was just banded 10 days ago so I really can't speak to a banded weight loss. However, I have lost and gained weight many times over my life and definitely ovulated more regularly when I was thinner. I am also on Metformin which helped a lot when I first started taking it. For me, I always feel my PCOS is better when I am thinner.

My daughter has PCOS,,,she's not banded (like me) but she is obese. She is 28, never used BC, had few occasional light periods. A friend told her that she read that taking metformin (a diabetes med) somehow allows PCOS er's to get pregnant. My daughter was not diabetic, but talked to her Doc, got a prescription,,,was pregnant 2 weeks later! I have a beautiful granddaughter that I thought I never would! (talk to you dr)!

I have PCOS but am only 3 weeks post-op. I did infertility treatments for 3 years (2 miscarriages) and also took metformin to help with the insulin resistance. It was actually acupuncture that allowed me to get pregnant with my second child (she was born in 2007). I am not planning to have anymore children but I hope my information helps you.

I actually heard from my doctor that some symptoms of PCOS do go away post-op because of the weight-loss.

Best of luck with your new adventures!

I have PCOS. It was the reason I was banded so that I could lose the weight and start ovulating on my own. I am 34 and never had regular periods unless induced. They have been pretty much like clockwork for the past 6 months and I have probably had 10 cycles since being banded 18 months ago. I have lost 108lbs. I exercise and eat decent. My husband has a male factor as well so he is being treated for it. We are still positive it will happen. My facial hair has lessened tremendously but I still find myself removing some stubble daily. It is just a lot less. I no longer have diabetes and do not have to take metformin but I do still take a smaller dosage because I credit it with my regular cycles. It can't hurt and gives me more flexibility in what I can eat.

So far the only difference is I am regular as can be. Every 4th Friday like clockwork. I am hoping for the excess hair to cease and my hubby & I gave up our baby hope a year ago. We'll see what happens!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
