Micro surgery For insertion of band is great

Recommended Posts

I was banded yesterday My band was put in using micro surgery. I have one incision hidden in my belly button and some tiny little punctures that are the size of freckles.

After my surgery (which was at a surgery center about two hours from my home) I came home walked a few miles. I have had some shoulder and neck pain (gas) Today I walked a few miles. Went out shopping with my mom who came into town for the surgery I am going to work half a day tomorrow. I highly suggest this technique for insertion. I have not needed to really even take pain meds.

So far so good ;-)

If you google it you can see the whole procedure on you tube ( not mine ) someone in Oregon. But there is very little visible scarring. The punctures could look like a mole removal scar and the "big" incision is hidden in my belly button.

I got the same technique today. Other than the gas/air in myleft shoulder area, i feel ok. Just walking around the house as much as possible.

Hmmm....I haven't heard of the micro procedure. Interesting. I may have to ask about that. (But I'm thinking of plication with band, not sure if that's an issue....?).

Thanks I googles, I think I might like that better. When I get down there in weight it might look great not having 5 scars visible when I wear my bikini!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
