"This store specializes in plus sizes..."

wanted to share my story too because I always found the success stories to be so inspiring! I was banded in October 2009 weighing in at 242. Day of surgery (after a week of saying goodbye to my favorite restaurant and giving up soda) I was 236. Today I am 169! About a year into this journey I was shopping with my Lane Bryant rewards and the sales lady came to me to gently remind me that it was a plus size store and they smallest they carried was a size 14. I was shocked and giddy!

I have no idea how many cc's are in my 10cc band, I have had 2 instances where they have removed some but then slowly worked my way back up. Initially I didn't need to do anything to lose, it just melted off, but this last 30 lbs have been a struggle. I am exercising and counting weight watchers points. My goal is to be 140 by Christmas!! My band can be my enemy and my friend but I wouldn't change anything! Good luck to everyone:-)

Hi Lisa,

I, too, was banded in Oct. 09. I, too, weighed in teh 240's, I think 244. It is great when you can walk past Lane Bryant, and recycle the "fat lady" catalogs that come in the mail, without looking at them. Congrats on your losses. Keep u the good work, you should be at goal in no time. Karen

That is a great story. Yes, Lane Bryant used to be my best friend. Although I am not even at my halfway point, I refuse to shop at Lane Byrant again. My biggest goal was to get out of the plus size stores. Now I can get into a size 16 or 18 so I don't need to shop there anymore. It is a struggle everyday, but when the scale moves, it makes me remember my reason for doing this. What a wonderful journey! Good luck to you!

I'm in good tears. Right now I can only shop in lane Bryant and I'll be honest I rush in without making eye contact with anyone, take my time while inside because I truly do love to shop, and then fly out of there until I am a safe distance from the store. I usually hide my bags in other bags. I chuckle at myself because it's not like Its a secret I'm a heavy girl in a heavy girls store but I'm just embarrassed.

I CANNOT wait until I can Celebrate with all of you in saying goodbye to the place. They are great when you need them.... But I don't want to need them. I want to shop EVERYWHERE.

In fact, my parents just came back from Japan and brought me the largest size "robe"..... No can do. I want to wear it. I will. Band o band can't come soon enough! I need your help! Lol.

Your story is very inspiring. That is one of my goals, to be able to not have to shop at LB anymore. My body shape is so weird that I usually have to wear size 22 jeans, but then it's really baggy (apparently they think heavy girls have long legs!), and the butt droops, so I look like I have a load in there. Not cool! lol.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
