I'm barely 4 days post op. Been staying at my moms house because I'm a single mom so she could help me with my kids who are 2 & 5 years old. Tonight I decided to come home since mom seemed like she needed a break. My son, the 5 year old, has been sick with fever and upset stomach (getting his 6 year molars in). I was uncomfortable in bed so all 3 of us fell asleep on the couches in the livingroom until I was woke up by my son crying about his stomach hurting. So then we all had to move downstairs so he could go to the bathroom. This is the part where I hurt myself. I had to carry my daughter the 2 year old who weighs 35 pounds and im not supposed to lift more than 20 right now. Now I've noticed some fresh blood under the durabond covering my cuts and it really hurts. :(

I'm not yelling at you, but it's really important that you follow your Dr's advice, especially while your body is healing from surgery. I know it sucks, but it's better to obey and be miserable for 6 weeks than to have to go back into surgery for a revision, hernia repair or who knows what else. I would call your Dr and see if you can go in to have him check our your stitches.

I can only imagine how hard it will be over the next few weeks while you're trying to recover while being a single mom, but your kids will thank you when you're alive and healthy enough to help them with their kids!!! :D

I hope everythings okay. Go get back in bed, prop your feet up, and watch some soaps!

J

If you didn't end up on the floor in agony, then you didn't tear and end up with a Hernia... KEEP IT UP,AND YOU WILL BE SORRY !

You broke the scabbing loose is my guess, and it pulled on your incisions, so they hurt !

It's probably not major just superficial, but !!!! I am no Dr., and I don't have x-ray eyes.

I would give them a call, and tel them what happened.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
