Inches gone but no weight loss, how can this be?

Recommended Posts

Ok people a pound is a pound. I hate when people say muscle weighs more than fat! So not true!!! One POUND of nails weighs the same as one POUND of feathers!

The issue is not a pound vs. a pound. The issue is weight by volume. Muscle weighs more than fat given the same volume. A pound of fat will have greater volume (takes up more space) than a pound of muscle. A liter of muscle weighs 1.06 kg and a liter of fat weighs 0.9 kg. So yes, muscle weighs more than fat.

I totally agree !

If you picture the size in space that a pound of nails would take up, vs a pound of feathers... I see a big difference..

So be glad those inches are coming off....

I was so glad to read your post. I am in the exact same boat. I was banded on 1/11/11 and I've only lost 30 lbs but I've lost a lot in inches. I too was a 2x top (20/22) and now wear a rebular XL. My pant size was an 18/20 and now I'm a 14/16. It's weird. The scale just won't budge!!! I'm frustrated because I'm doing and hour of Zumba 4 days a week and I'm really working on keeping my calorie intake around 1200-1300 per day. I ate probably 2500-3000 calories a day before the band and the only exercise I got was walking to the refrigerator!

I'm still so glad I had this done but I'm beginning to wonder if the scale is ever going to go down. I've had a few fills....I think I'm at 7 cc's and I go back again the middle of August. I know I have good restriction because I can get stuck easily if I'm not extremely careful on how fast I eat or swallow too big of a bite. Maybe I need an un-fill.............. I'm glad I'm not in this boat alone!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
