Okay, I am completely confused! I had my band put in Thursday (6 days ago). The metabolic surgery center gave me a post op food plan that included day 1 and 2- liquid diet, day 3 and 4- mushie foods, day 5 and on- regular food. I started eating regular food on day 5. Although it feels fine, and I have not had any vomiting, the posts I read on this site say you should have a liquid diet for at least two weeks post op so the stomach can heal and form scar tissue. I can see the sense in that but my surgeon's office did not give me that restriction. Now I am scared to eat regular food for fear of slippage in the future. I am self pay and I definitely don't want a huge bill for having to redo the surgery.

Also, how soon can I exercise. I feel like I am losing all my muscle but none of the fat. I know I can walk but I have an elliptical that I'd like to start riding. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you all.

You need to follow the directions you got from your surgeon. Everyone here has a different pre and post op diet, depending on the doctor they chose. You also need to talk to your doctor about exercising. Everyone here will have an opinion and you will drive yourself crazy trying to figure out which answer is right. It's best to just focus on the diet and exercise plan you were provided. If you're not sure about something, call the doctor's office.

Follow your surgeon's post op directions. Everyone is different (sadly). Per exercise I was told no more than walking for 6 weeks. Doing too much too soon can lead to future problems. Rest and get your Protein in.

Congrats on your weight loss without a fill. What is P90X? I've seen that number but am not familiar with the term/phrase. Thanks.

P90X is a workout program that will kick your butt. I have never done it, but I see all of the infomercials. I thought about buying it, but I'm so afraid I wouldn't be able to get through 1 min of it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
