2nd fill today

Recommended Posts

It's been slightly over 4 weeks since my first fill and I need this one really bad! Two nights ago I was able to eat 2 slices of pizza! That was very bad I know! I was in and out of the doctors office in 10 minutes. She didn't ask me anything about my eating habits and really any questions other when I had my first fill. I was a little disappointed and she nor the NUT commented on the 10 pounds I lost since my last visit. She had me sit up so she could feel the port better, then lay back down.

Do you guys lay down for the fill or sit up?

She did tell me she gave me 1cc and now I have a total of 3ccs in a 10cc band. I drank the Water with no problem at all. I had a realization in the office. I always went by people's fills on this board-like fill #3 was the magic fill or #5 did the trick., but you need to consider your body and the amount of the fill For me 3ccs = fills, for someone lese 3ccs=3 fills. The point being that each doctor put in different amounts and you can't really compare someone else's fill to yours.

The NUT said I need to have 1 Protein Shake a day. I said I thought no shakes because the band works with solids. She said I should have a shake as a snack, not a Meal Replacement because I need the extra Protein.< /p>

I am really hoping the 3ccs helps to control the hunger monster!

I went shopping afterwards and bought a cute bathing suit that was 1 size smaller! I love those miracle suits!!

My first fill I had 3.5cc and today I got 1.5cc so I am at a total of 5cc. I have to do liquids today and sat and then mushie sunday and monday. Do you have to do anything like that after a fill?? Good Luck NJ!!!!! :D

I am jealous!! I don't think this fill did a damn thing- I wish my doc was more aggressive with fills like yours!

I mean come'on it's been 2 months-give a girl a break with the fills! I am going back in 2 weeks if things don't improve! They didn't even say anything about liquids but I know from last time I was on liquids for 24 hours. I hope corona lights count as liquids because I had 2 tonight! I still feel hungry too, but I barely ate anything today.

First of all...CONGRATS on the 10 lbs NJGirl!!! That is great!!

I had my 2nd fill on Wednesday. It's been 5 weeks since my first fill. I was so worried that I had not lost any weight since we had been on vacation and even though I was being pretty careful about my food choices, I wasn't being REALLY careful...we were on vacation! My doctor had me lay down, too. He told me that I had 7 cc's in my band and that he was putting another .5 cc into it. He asked me how much I had put in at my first fill but I told him that I forgot to ask and I wasn't told. I didn't think that 1/2 a cc was going to do anything for me. However, I did lose 6 pounds since my last fill! That was HUGE for me because I've also been able to eat too much in one sitting. We have pizza once a week and I can easily eat 2 slices.

My doctor asked me what has changed since my last visit (when I had gained 3 pounds)? I told him that I have been walking more and that I have basically cut red meat out of my diet and only eat chicken, fish, or turkey. And I realized that I have stopped snacking, grazing, eating in between meals. He asked if I thought the band was doing what I had hoped? I said that I think it is, simply because it makes me more aware of everything I put in my mouth. But that I'm still concerned that I do not have the restriction that other people say they have. I'm also concerned that I'm eating too much at one time. He said to just keep making small changes and suggested that I start to wean myself off of carbs. I was so relieved that he was giving me encouragement after the frustrating visit I had the last time I saw him.

YAY for us!!

I forgot to tell you nj! The NP has me lay down on the table and when he goes to feel the port he asked me to lift my head and shoulders like doing a crunch, he says its to help the muscles push the port to the surface more. once he felt it he had me lay back down. When I expressed my worry to him about being so hungry after having one fill already, he said that was normal. He told me that I was doing great bc even though I didnt loose any weight, I didnt gain either. The NP said most people gain even after their first fill. He said that it is common to not really feel restriction until after the third fill. I guess we have to be patient! LOL its hard for me I know! Im just so anxious!!! :) Also, even though my office is more agressive with fills, I dont go back for 3 weeks at a time. Your office is bringing you back every 2 weeks, which I think is great. Some people respond well to 1/2 cc, and slow and steady seems to be the name of this game... KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK EVERYONE!!!! WE WILL GET THERE!!!! :D

I am so glad I got on today. I have only had one fill and of course being my impatient self, was very frustrated that I still am not in the place I want to be. I have lost very little weight since my surgery. However, I made it through girls camp, vacation and cub scout camp without gaining any weight and losing just a little. There was food and Snacks around everywhere, and it was so hot I know I drank with my meals without even thinking about it. Anyway, it is always good to hear I am not alone in my frustrations and a good reminder that I need to be more patient. I am eating healthier, exercising more and feeling better in my clothes, so no matter what.. I am still having a positive experience. ( Except for stuck food and throwing up once after trying to eat my breakfast.. what a yucky learning experience that was!!) Anyway, thanks guys.. Just keep doing it!! We will get there!

Thanks everyone! Today I do feel a little different with my fill. I could eat watermelon after my first fill, now it sounds like a garbage disposal when I eat watermelon and I had to stop because it felt like the beginning o=stage of being stuck. I could only et 1/3 of a hot dog and threw the roll away. Had a very small piece of chicken. My stomach felt a little upset today foodwise. So I feel my 2nd fill has done something different and I feel uneasy and a little sick if I eat too much. I'll give it some more time! Each fill gets me a little closer to where I should be!

Hi! I'm new to this forum but I just got my second fill today! To answer your question, I have to lay down when I get filled. I felt like my first fill did absolutely nothing because I NEVER felt full. I also haven't thrown up once since I got my band, which is supposed to be a good thing. But still, I rarely feel full. I just stop eating because I know I'm supposed to. Anyway, I have a total of 5cc now, so let's hope this works!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
