went for 3rd fill yesterday

Recommended Posts

I am almost 4 months post op. I had my 3rd fill done yesterday afternoon, I now have 6-6 1/2 in my band. This morning I am trying to drink my Protein Shake and am having a hard time drinking it. Has anyone else ever had this? Should I call the Dr. office to let them know?

I went ahead and called the Dr. office. They told me Clear Liquids only for three days, I shouldn't even be drinking my shake right now after my fill. It helps if they tell me to not do the Protein Shakes after a fill. Hope my boo boo helps others.

I am also almost 4 months post op and ALSO just went for my 3rd fill yesterday afternoon and have just over 8ccs in mine, but have an extra large 14cc band. Mine is very tight after yesterdays fill and I am always told that I should do liquids for 48 hours every time after a fill. This is the tightest I have ever been, but I tried solids right away and was fine just taking very tiny bites, chewing well and only eating no more then 6 bites per meal. It seems to be working so far, but you may be even tighter then me if you have a smaller band. Do what's comfortable, and if that means just liquids for a while, then so be it, but don't be scared to tell them that you think it may be slightly too tight and they need to adjust it again. My fill doc says to let him know the next day if there are any problems and he will do a quick adjustment for free. Never hurts to ask, as you did.

I am, also, told to do clear liquids for 48 hours and full liquids for 48 hours. I, usually, make it to Saturday night after a fill on Wednesdays. Don't rush the use of food after a fill. Good luck.Karen

I had my 3rd fill three days ago. My rules were liquids first day, mushies 2nd and regular 3rd day. I'm having the hardest time. My Water even feels like it hangs there. Everytime I burp, something comes up. It just wont go and stay down. I talked to Dr. yesterday and was told to just stick with liquids. I'm hungry and tired of this. We leave for family vacation tomorrow and hope it gets better. I'm told there is swelling with fills. She only added 1/2cc so I am at 6cc/10cc. Ouch

I went back to the dr. the day after my fill. The day before he put 1 cc in my band, I had to get some taken out because I wasnt able to get my Water to go down. So it took 1/2 a cc out and I am all better. Thanks for everyones help. I have 6cc, and have lost 42 pds. in 4 months. Yeah!!!:D

TammyLee205: Hi--I'm scheduled for surgery on August 15th and want to learn as much as possible to get the best results. You should be so proud of yourself--42lbs in 4months? Wow, now that's awesome! :) Do you mind me asking what your typical day/week looks like. I would love to have similar results!

Thanks!

I have just had my 5th adjustment and I am having difficulty drinking my Protein shakes. I don't know if the band is too tight now either. I guess that is why I came here. So, I am going to give it a day or two more because I remember being told that the stomach would be a little touchy after a fill. If I can't get relief in 3 more days I am going back in to the doctor.

I always wait a few days before I react to having a fill. Things do even out after that for me.

You do however, have to be able to get liquids (water) down, even if there is a slight gurgling sound/feeling.

BTW, my band is always tight first thing in the morning, gets better as the day goes on.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
