swelling with fills

Recommended Posts

I recently had my third fill. The first few days after I follow the liquids, mushies, etc rule. It is really hard to get liquids down the 2nd day still. Warm foods are easier than cold drinks. Is it true that your stomach swells after a fill? I was told that but find it hard to believe just half a cc could do that.

It's been true for me with all of my fills- I feel tighter the few days after the fill, then by 2 weeks out it's "loosned" up a lot.

I too had my third fill Friday. I left for the beach Saturday expecting to be able to eat some fish by Sunday. I was wrong. Anything solid hurts going down. I can eat Soup and oatmeal. Can't eat anything hard even if I chew the heck out of it. I can tell it starting to get a little better today. I thought about getting a slight unfill but then told myself...this is why I did it. Greek yogurt, refried Beans and Protein Shakes for a couple of weeks and then I will decide.

I can barely keep Water down. I take a sip, fell I have to burp, and it comes right up! I'm hungry! This is ridiculous! I want to fast forward a couple days.

If you can't keep Water down you may be too tight. Get with your doctor if not better pronto!

I agree with the previous post.

Also we do 3 days liquid (NO EXCEPTION OR YOU COULD SWELL BACK UP.) 1 day mushies, and then try food.

It seems to work for a lot of us at the clinic. Otherwise to tight.

Give it a try the next time you get a fill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
