New to Site After a long Break

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've made it my goal to start being more active with Lap Band Talk. I took a long break for almost 3 years but logged into the site when it was near my surgery day/anniversary. I was banded on July 20, 2007 in Houston, Texas by Dr. Spivak. It's been a long road these three years with almost becoming anorexic due to my band being two tight. I've slowly returned to a good/reasonable weight and have flourished. I decided to repost in the introduction section to say I'm back and if you would like to add me as a friend please do. I've only got 3 friends so far. :(

Please add me as a friend.

Thanks for allowing me to post.

Welcome Back!!

I too had fallen off and not been on this forum ------- but recently started to realize I needed to get back and start communicating with other bandsters!!!

I am 15 pounds from my goal weight --- happy where I am now -- but would LOVE to get to that goal even more!!

I exercise regularly and getting ready for the "Warrior Dash" (look up the Warrior Dash website....you will see it is a CRAZY fun race!!)

I am eating around my band -- which is preventing me from losing -- so I need some reinforcement to NOT eat the ice cream and other foods that don't get stopped by the band.

Good Luck on your journey!!

Hopefully we can help each other some how................

Welcome back! I was banded by Dr Spivak in July 2009, 2 years yesterday. I find it very helpful to stay on track when I come here and at least read that others are dealing with the same things that I do. I would love to be your friend.

I am returning as well. The support is so important. You can not be on this journey alone.

Welcome Back,

It seems their's alot like me who stepped off the band wagon. It's time we get going and catch up. I just stared to do Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, I'm on Day 5 and it's been a killer to get here. I noticed last night that I could keep up and without stopping the video quite as often. :)

123crod - Small world!

Jadaboo1 - Thanks

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
