I had surgery on June 28th, the first few days were hell, but i have started to feel alot better. The only pain i have now is where the port is. This evening for dinner i ate a little bit of rice. I can feel some of it stuck in my throat. What should i do? Do you think i caused any damage?

Doubt there's damage, but there is a lesson in there. You may not have chewed it well enough. Sip some warm tea to relax your throat and try not to freak out. ;)

Thanks for the reply. I had already started sipping some tea. All is well now. I often wonder about liquids and stretching the pouch. Do you think its possible to drink too much and stretch your pouch?

Warm Water - and follow your liquid diet I am sure you are fine - just keep in mind we are on liquids for the first couple weeks so the band can settle where it needs to be and to heal

Glad to hear your better  Drinking will not stretch your pouch since it slides through the band - Solids can stretch if you take too big a bite or do not chew properly because the food will sit there in the pouch Hope that answers your questions :)

I am almost 7 months out and rice is the one thing that I regret eating every time. No mater how much I chew it.... Hope you are feeling better.... make sure not to rush getting to solids.... I was 4 weeks out of surgery before I was allowed regular food. Your stomach needs time to recover from the trauma of surgery.

I am over a year out now & I haven't been able to eat rice since the very beginning. I think it has something to do with the food expanding as rice does

One bad meal probably didn't cause problems.

When it comes to rice, it really is hit of miss. I live in Asia, Koreans eat rice 3 times a day.

People can get banded here and many still eat rice and it doesn't bother them ( and they still lose weight.... jealous!)

However rice can expand in your stomach so I think if you eat it like Korean's do in the portion we're allowed per meal 1/2-1 cup Im pretty sure you would stretch your pouch as it does expand in your stomach.

When I eat rice here it is usually with a Soup ( we cann it chegae) so I usually put the rice in the Soup and wait for it to expand then consume the expanded rice with a little soup. It's never a lot and I rarely eat that, but rice works for me. I joke that my band is very Korean because western food bothers my band but Korean food doesnt.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
