It's very possible. I'll be 7 months on August 31 and have lost 90 pounds as of today.

It's very do-able...I'm almost 9 months post op and have lost 104 lbs so far (started at 325 lbs).

Is it realistic to set a goal of 85 lbs lost in 1 year? I'm currently around 285 and would like to enter onederland in a year.

For those of you that have been at this a while, what was your weight loss after a year? Thanks!

I was banded in December so I am approaching my 10 month anniversary and I have lost 116 lbs. I am hoping to be at a loss of 140 lbs by my anniversary... which will leave me with about 50 more pounds to go. :)

It is so nice to open a thread and see everyone posting success! Great job everyone :)

For me ........ I lost 100 pounds in 1 year. I had 2 fills at that point, no exercise, no counting, tracking, measuring.....

I just folowed some very basic guidelines.

You can do it !

So tell me about that please. I got banded on 6/17/11 and have lost 30lbs so far. I would like to lose 100lbs in a year and I have not exercised really. Can you give me some tips on what guidlines you followed?

Thank you

Rochelle

OH yeah, most definitely. they say the optimal weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs per week, that is 8 to 10 lbs per month. Totally doable. i have lost 33 lbs in 4 months and my goal is to lose another 40 by the end of the year. Just keep up the good work and know that you can do this!!!

I am so greatful for this thread. I was banded on 5/24. My goal is 75 pounds by Thanksgiving. Our group gives a blue ribbon for 75 pounds, and my mission is to prove that bandsters can do it to! My next goal is 100 pounds by April 2012. Again, our team puts on a fashion show, that is soooo cool! You don't have to be at 100 pounds to be a part of it, but I am on a mission folks! there will be a bandster in that show that has lost 100 pounds! So I am so glad to hear all the positives that make me believe that I can also lose it! Right now, as of this AM I am down 43 pounds! Thats only 32 pounds to my first goal!

Like I posted above, restriction and green zone/ sweet spot have been the #1 thing that has helped me.

When I say basic guidelines I mean VERY basic, like chewing every bite well. I don't chew things to a liquid state or so much I get grossed out, just well chewed. I pick fat free and sugar free when I can. I do not try to eat things that give me trouble. That way I avoid that pain or stuck or slime feeling. I know my full signal and stop eating even if there is only one bite left on my plate. That last bite gets thrown away. I don't count calories and have not since day one. When I have proper restriction, it is pointless because there is just no way I can eat as many calories as I did when I was morbidly obese. I accept the fact that when I am at my sweet spot there are some foods I just can not eat. I'm ok with that. I try to stay active and don't lay around watching TV. Even if it is just cleaning house, it's better than lounging around.

That's totally doable! I started out at 232 and I lost 75 pounds in 1 year.

Just wanted to add that I have lost 81 pounds so far (in less than nine months) and I started at a similar weight (266 pounds). So it is definitely doable! You can do it. My goal is to hit 100 pound mark at my one year. My weight loss started to slow down at about 7 months but it is still creeping off! Better off than on! Best of luck to us all!

I started at the exact weight as you and almost 11 weeks later I am almost down 50 pounds, so I do believe it is a possibility. I want to be at 200 by Christmas...which would be 85 pounds in 6 months!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
