I was banded on wed the 29, the day after was fine but that night I got extremely nauseous and started vomiting, thus lasted until about 4am this morning. My surgeon took me off all meds except the nausea medicine. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have not had this problem. Hang in there and keep your doctor in the loop. I hope things get better!

I was banded on the 30th and I have not vomited. However, I would get nauseous. I made sure to take the nausea meds with the pain meds and lay down. I noticed if I walked within 30 mins taking the pain meds I would feel sick. I keep some sonic ice chips in a cup nearby. I would suggest you call the dr office because you don't want to risk a slip. I hope you feel better

I did have that problem. I was banded on June 27th, came home June 28th. I took the pain med when I got home, and was up violently dry heaving every half hour all night. I held a pillow to my abdomen and pushed against the kitchen counter to try and brace it, but the pain was still horrible. I can't imagine how I could NOT have damaged something, doing this less than 48 hours post-op. Pain med on an empty stomach will do it, I never took it again and started anti-nausea med. Have been doing OK since.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
