I am a little more than four days post op and I am very hungry today. I have moved on from Clear Liquids and started drinking Protein Shakes and Soups with unflavored Protein mixed in. I had headaches most of today and I am just straight up starving now. Not sure what to do. I feel like I am drinking as much Protein Shake and Soup as I can. I can't tolerate much more.

Being only 7 days post op I am not very experienced, but wanted you to know that your post is being read.

At 4 days, I wasn't hungry but DID get a headache. It can be from your body still trying to get all the anesthesia out of your system and the other drugs you had during the surgery. Also,. have you been drinking lots of Water along with your Clear Liquids and Protein shakes? I JUST went to Protein Shakes today, but still drinking at least the 64 ounces of Water prescribed by my doctor.

If you are still hurting and hungry tomorrow call your doctor. Hope you feel better soon

HUGS... Mama Lisa

i am beginning to wonder if i will ever be hungry again, the thought of eating or even drinking Protein Shakes is very displeasing to me. i am going to go with the advice of others on the forums and listen to my body so if you are hungry maybe it's from using so many calories to heal and you should listen to it

Tammy,

I'm five days post op and feel the same way. I'm doing everything I can to get the 64 oz of watwr down. I think once the anesthesia wears off things will change.

I am 3 days post op and I am having the same problem I am soo hungry. I am trying to stick to the 2 oz I am allowed but then I am just miserable half hour later. I started my Protein Shakes today and was only able to get 4 oz down at one time... I am also eating Soups and drinking Water. Yougurt and pudding and some mashed potatoes... It just doesn't keep me satisfied.. Plus I haven't lost any weight.. I am not sure if its just too soon cause I am still swollen and have alot of gas in my tummy... Atleast we are not alone!

I broke down and ate half a baby yogurt (what I had on hand) last night and then half this morning. The RN from my bariatric program called this afternoon and we discussed it. She suggested making my Soup with milk for added Protein and gave me a recipe for protein pops (cottage cheese, flavored protein mix, and Water blended up and frozen) for additional substance.

I think it is very nOrmal, i am not sure if you are litterally hugry or if you are just missing real food.< /p>

Drinking your food doesnt make you feel full, do the test, have an orange or have a glass of oj, what will make u feel more statisfied?

It is a tough step, but sooner than later the pureed stage will come and you will be fine, just try to occupy your mind for now, you will get used to it soon.

I don't know actually. What I had was a sample from my pre-surgery class.

They have non flavored Protein powder at any health store... i.e. GNC.... Also, you can order it online. Google unjury and you can order it from their website.

I was actually hungry from DAY 1. (blech). I have found though that over time (although I've only been banded a little over three weeks) that I was much more able to ignore the feeling, and that I think it's actually subsided somewhat; although I have a few moments occasionally where my stomach starts up a good roaring... funny because my stomach never growled before I got the band. Also, I think that having mushies has helped me be less hungry, since they are more satisfying. You'll get through it!

I am going through the same thing. I just drink constantly to keep the hunger at bay. I drink my broth, my Protein Shakes, my Water, my tea....I am so darn excited for the mushie stage I can't stand it lol. Although I get to start full liquids on tuesday, I am soooo ready for that!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
