first fill and having trouble

Recommended Posts

Hello all :) I just had my first fill about 10:30 this morning (5.5 cc) and I am having some issues I guess you can say. I will start with when I got back to the car I took like 2 gulps of Vitamin Water - and right back up it came. I came home and tried to drink some of my Protein Drink and if I take minute sips, it seems to stay down, and I guess what my question is - is this normal? I am going to try and get thru the weekend and if it doesn't seem to improve I will call the doc on Monday

I think you have a good plan. You may have swelling from the fill. After my first fill I got in the car and threw up the Water they had me drink. I probably should have gone right back in but I didn't. Couldn't keep anything down that night, but in the morning I was fine. If your still having trouble, call on Monday for sure. If your really tight, it may help to water down the protien drinks, it worked for me. Hope you feel better soon!

I've never gotten such a large fill at one time but I would say you probably have some swelling from the fill. You should always drinking slowly and in small amount after a fill because of the inflammation caused by the fill. Take it easy and once you start to add soft foods, go really slow. especially since you got such a large fill, your band is going to be much different when you eat. If after a day or two you are still having problems just getting your Protein Shakes down then you def need to go in and have them take some out. Good luck.

Stay light on the sips, and don't even think about eating.....

Cardinal rule for swelling at my Doc's Office is:

3 days liquid, 1 day mushies, then the next day try food.

If the swelling does not go down,,,,, then you are in THE RED ZONE. To Tight, and have to get some taken out.

If it's not good by Monday, call your Dr., and go get a slight unfil.

Anytime they touch that fill though,,, it's back to fluids for 3 days, etc....

Didn't your Dr. give you a glass of Water after he filled you, and make you drink the whole thing down.

That's every time you are filled ! If you have to,,, you ask for a glass of Water to see if it stays down.

That's part of the fill. To see if you are to tight or not. Please keep that in mind.

Let me know how your doing O.K., Shirley.

I had my first fill at 10:30 this morning too! So far liquids are going down ok, but I definitely feel it slow down when it gets to the band. Ive also had the same air bubble stuck under the band since this morning and I can't get it out. Thats only slightly uncomfortable. I'm really hungry right now and sipping my Protein Shakes doesn't really seem to help but I'm really going to try and hang in there the recommended 3 days of liquid only... Good luck to you on your journey!

Thats swelling in the band. As long as you can drink,, it's a good thing.

Don't drink cold ! It will cause swelling ! ! ! Stay lukewarm or room temperature.

I hope you are drinking shakes in this, not just Water or Chrystal light.

If your shake is to thick, then add more water, and thin it out.

The Protein will help kill the hunger, so the more protein the better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
