I am failing at this and I have only myself to blame. I was banded on Dec 13, 2010 and have only lost 30 lbs. And most of that was at the beginning...and the worst part is that I know I have only myself to blame. I have had maybe...4 fills? Anyway, I'm almost at my max. I just need some encouraging words for getting back on track and making good food choices. That's my biggest problem. I can eat Pasta all day long without it giving me any problems so thats what I eat most of the time. *sigh* I just have to get control....and it's not easy.

boy, do I understand what you're saying! I wish I could be encouraging but I too am failing miserably with the band. Mine has been in for two years, and I lost 50 lbs in the first year, and haven't lost a bit since then! Still have 50 more to go. I am sabotaging myself, but cannot seem to stop, because I hate the way the restriction makes me feel. Therefore, I eat what goes down the easiest, which is not always the best choice. I hope someone responds to your post - and quickly!

For me, it was a matter of wrapping my head around the fact that I don't have to eat a full blown whenever I'm hungry. Say you haven't eaten all day, and it's night....don't you just want to get a big meal and eat it all and enjoy it? We've all done that, I've done it way too many times in my life. The thing is with the band, even when you get that hungry, a small portion meal will fill you up just fine. You just have to give the band time to work its magic. If you eat your small portion meal relatively quickly, you can walk away and not feel full until around 15 minutes later. Don't just keep eating that huge meal until you're full. At that point, it's far too much and then the discomfort rears it's head. That was a huge, huge thing for me to figure out....despite the fact the doctor was hammering it into my head prior to the surgery.

Take it easy on the carbs, which you are getting from the Pasta. Carbs and weight loss really don't like each other too much.

And of course there is the whole exercise issue. Push hard, and often.

If you must have Pasta, I highly recommend "Dreamfields Pasta". Tastes great and is only 5 grams of digestible carbs per serving, high Fiber and low glycemic. They have a website check them out. I love pasta too, but I limit myself to 1/2 cup of cooked pasta and add lots of meat to get your Protein intake, some ground beef or turkey or crock pot tender cooked chicken.< /p>

I too have been failing. I went to a surgeon on Friday with the intent of going from band to sleeve and he refuses to do the revision. So, I have had a good look at what I eat and have came to grips that the slider foods MUST GO. I have stocked my fridge with tuna again and I began riding my bike again. I work nights and therefore will be riding my bike for an hour minimal upon coming home every morning. If the weather ever straightens out here to where I can ride to work, I will take the long way home in the mornings. I work in a distribution center and so I felt that exercise was not the issue, but evidently, it is. I need to ride again in order to get my metabolism moving again. I have lost 3 pounds since Friday. So am hopeful with this current mind set and a plan in place, follow through and I should be successful in keeping the scale going in the right direction. I was very close to goal when I lost my "vision" and am told this happens quite frequently. I pray that I am on the right track again and that everyone finds their "right track" soon.

Have a great one!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
