Newly Banded - Digestion Question

Recommended Posts

Hi, I got my lapband on 6/9/11 so almost a week! I seem to be having a lot of gas and diarrhea and I wondered if that's normal? I have completed 5 days of "clears plus Protein shakes" and moved onto "Pureed with Protein Drinks" . Thanks.

i dont know about others, but it was definitely normal for me. the diarrhea went away after i got back on mushies and it's stayed gone (i was banded 5/16) as for the gas... it's definitely less than it was for the first 2 weeks post op... but i still have more than i did before the surgery. again, maybe that's just me. who knows! good luck :)

Rachel is right. lol

since no food...liquids was all I got. I was on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks! lol so... and that includes the Protein Shakes. But I couldn't do them. So clear liquids it was. And believe it was hell for two whole weeks! lol But you'll make it and it will be a distant memory a couple of months from now. B)

Thanks everyone! Adding in purees seems to have helped with the issue...

I had the same problem at first, but now that I'm on mushies, everything is fine. Adding a pureed banana REALLY helps. Bananas have enzymes that help when you have diarrhea.

Yes it's totally normal and goes away with time. For me, my gas issues went away after about 3 months, and my pooping issues went away a little quicker than that. However, it turned into Constipation problems so I had to play with my diet a bit to find foods that helped make me "regular" without interfering with the band.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
