I dont know what i am suposed to be feeling. I have been sipping on broth most all day and have had a bowl of Soup and two Protein Shakes today too.. I dont want to over do anything but i am sick of feeling my guts flop around. lol will the rumbling go away?

I agree with the person above. I am just barely out- it will officially be 2 weeks tomorrow- and I had the tummy rumbles as well. I still get them now even though I am on my soft phase of the diet until 1 month post op. congrats on surgery! How are you feeling?

Hi Travis, for me full feels very different than it did prior to surgery. So you may just have to listen to your body. For me I now feel overfull as a sharp pain in my back. It's different for everyone. As for the stomach growling. That's normal, I think it's gas. It goes away in a few weeks.

thanks for the replys.. the rumbling is a little better today. i ate a whole bowl of cream of chicken Soup today and never felt anything like i was thinking i would. i guess they dont fill the band up much when they install it? it seems like the rumbling stopped after i ate the soup.

Congratulaions on your band!!!! You will get better as each days passes. I am almost 2 months and still have to work at knowing when I have ate the right amount. It is a differnet feeling that before the band.

Good luck with a speedy recovery.

I was banded on the 9th of June so 5 days for me. No rumbling but a lot of bloat. Feeling pretty comfortable today. The only time I get hungry is about 2AM. I am a night time grazer so I guess my body doesn't want to give that up. So far, so good.

Hello Bluekerry, I was also banded on June 9th. I have a huge question for you before I call my doc. I just didn't know if what I am about to ask you or anyone reading is normal. I realize that I can feel the "port" under my skin and that is normal, but when I stand up, although I can still feel the port under my skin, I also feel like there is a mass all around it. Is this normal? It does not come out of the skin, but can feel it really well when I press around the area. this spot is also the only spot that seems to give me "trouble" with pain. Is it easy for you to bend over and pick something up off the floor? Impossible right now for me. I can get out of bed ok, but some other things seem impossible. Thanks!

What you are feeling is swelling...the port was attached (either with stitches or with a clip type thing) to your abdominal muscle. You are less than a week out of surgery, some swelling and pain is very normal at this point.

I agree, it's probably swelling. But you should never hesitate to call your DR. for any reason. That's why she/he is there. I think what you're experiencing is normal.

I'm still a little sore, but can do most things. I did try to put on my jean crops today and even though I have lost weight they were snug. I know it's the swelling. I decided not wear them and put on a loose fitting dress. It makes my more comfortable and the heat is terrible right now.

Keep in touch and good luck.

Thanks so much for getting back with me. That seems to make sense. I also tried my pants on and couldn't figure out why they weren't any bigger on me after I lost 21 lbs. (I started a diet 4 weeks priro to surgery). I think swelling seems very sensible. I know I may gain a little back once I can eat, but for now, I am just greatful to see the scale at 198!! This week of Clear liquids is killing me!! I get to start full liquids starting tomorrow. I can't wait!!!

less rumbling today but still really sore around one of the incisions, i think this sore spot must be were the port is.. i can not feel the port but it feels kind of firm all around that spot where all of the others are normal feeling. I have my first post op appointment tomorrow so i guess allot of my questions will be answered then. I hope they can tell me when i feel full.. lol i have been eating very small portions but never feel full but i dont want to over do it. travis

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
