Hello. I was banded on 3/3/11 and down 20 lbs. I am somewhat disappointed because I hear alot of bandsters that lose that in 1 month. I am struggling and I feel very over whelmed, at times I feel that it was pointless having my band put in. I know I have to do my part (exercise and eat healthy). The exercise part is what's difficult. I have no energy at all, no matter what time of the day it is. Is anyone going through the same problems as I am? Please let me know.

LOL! I liked the drive-by compliment!

I'd call your doctor and see if they can test your Iron. If you're always exhausted it might be anemia. Could also be Vitamin D deficiency...

I was feeling discouraged too. I've only lost 12 pounds since my surgery 6 weeks ago. I won't get my first fill for another 2 weeks. I started pleasurable walking. I am gradually working up to other exercise. But for now, find some activity you really like. Walk the dog, go play mini golf, go for a walk on a beach, play air hockey...there are lots of fun things that don't feel like exercise, but they really are. Good luck.

Hi, Adriana. I was banded on 10/22/2010. I am down approx. 60 lbs. There are some people who were banded before me who have lost less and there are some who have lost more. I know it is hard, but do not compare your weight loss to others. Eventually, we all get to our goals as long as we use the band as a tool and not rely on the food restriction to do all the work. In the month of February, I had zero weight loss. From that point, I joined the gym. I work out at least 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes a day. If I am pressed for time, then I will only work out for 20 minutes, but I will try to keep my heart rate increased to get the most bang for my buck. I use the sauna to help get rid of excess Water and toxins. Now, I know this may sound absolutely insane and I would not have believed it before February, but the more you work out, the more energy you will get. If you do not have energy now, start off with a slow walk and the energy will follow. Now you may say that you do not have the time to go to the gym that often. I am a full-time paralegal at a large law firm. I attend law school part time, three days a week in the evenings. I am a wife and mother of an 11-year-old daughter who plays basketball, piano lessons, swimming, etc. I was determined to carve time out for me! I did not go through the whole procedure of getting the band to fail. I am determined to succeed. Once you set your determination at a "nothing will stop me" pace, you will see better results. The physical part is only half the battle. The rest is mental, within our own minds. I hope this helps!

Maybe it shouldn't be a contest with OTHERS. You're not losing weight for others, right?

Right?

Keep up the good work!!!

You are such an encouragement!

I am mommy to a 16-month old, wife and senior professional and was banded almost a week ago. Sometimes I cannot for the life of me, find time to do anything good for myself. But to your point, I did not go through all the hoops of banding and all the pain, hunger and discomfort for it to fail. So I will work to make it work and succeed. In the midst of doing everything for everyone else, we tend to lose us.

GOOD LUCK!

R.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
