hey guys i need tons of help here!! i'll just start that i am 19 years old and in college living with three other roommates. i am 5ft 9in and started at 207lbs. i am down to 165 which is awesome......but my goal weght is about 150. i have been dealing with a lot of emotional stress the past few years and i will feel finally done with all this when i reach my goal weight! anyway...... i have had 3 fills......and the third one was really tight, which was in september. i continued to lose weight but there was A LOT of food i could not eat. and that made this very hard because i would try to eat a lot of things and PB them. My roommates were kind of curious what was going on and also it stressed me out because i didn't feel like i even had the chance to make "good" or "bad" decisions with food or portion decisions. Which for me is also part of this whole thing...trying to have a moderate normal relationship with food.

Now, I have been at the same weight for a good couple of months and I can eat a big variety of foods. Things still get stuck every couple of days or if i eat way too fast. So i am not losing weight and I am frustrated because i feel like I am eating a lot.....i am eating a lot. i work out every day and my metabolism is keeping up, but......

emotionally i just want to reach my goal and be so called normal. i don't know whether to get another fill or not because i don't want to be so restricted again to where I PB every day and i can't eat very many things. that makes me upset as well. i don't want my roommates wondering what's going on as well.( they obviously don't know about my surgery)

ADVICE anyone please????

thanks so much-

alex*

Maybe if you just get a teeny tiny bit you will jump start your weight loss and still be able to eat. Things should not get stuck if you chew chew chew and take smaller bites. When did you have your surgery? Get the fill and only stick to foods that you know you can eat. Don't try any new foods when you are around people that don't know about your surgery. I am very leary about trying new things. Hope all goes well with you, keep us updated.

Hi Alex (wow, *another* alex!)--

I gotta say, if you're 5'9" and are only 15 lbs over your goal, you are THERE, baby! I've heard time and time again that the last few pounds come off slowly, and if I were you I'd rather give it more time instead of running the risk of a too-tight fill. You're how old? 19? IMO you should be concentrating on learning how to eat with the fill you've got, and tweaking your habits rather than tweaking your fill.

Congratulations on getting so far! You are normal, honey, and 15 lbs on a 5'9" frame is pocket change. Hell, I'm 5'10" and my "goal" weight is a range of 30 lbs! I certainly won't be worried about the "last" 15.

Concentrate on school, and staying healthy!! That's my thinking, and you did ask. :)

Alex,

Do you realize that at 5'9" and 165lbs, your BMI is 24?? THis is in normal range (normal range being BMI between 20 and 25)! YOU ARE NORMAL!!!

I agree with Alexandra...just tweak here and there. You are doing so well. Congradulations!

Just my 2 cents :)

Marsha

Alex,

Instead of a fill, why don't you try different types of exercise. Maybe your body is used to what you're doing and just trying something different will shake things up a little!

First of all, congratulations! You have done great! I also think you have made it, and those 15 pounds will come off slowly, much more than the previous ones, and it is a good thing too, because it will give you time to concentrate on learning how to deal with food, and emotions that trigger eating. I feel like I understand exactly where you are at because I was once 19

(and dieting of course) and I know how it seems that if you dont do it today its never going to happen, or you somehow are going to lose control. But trust me, it will happen because you are in the right track, you have the perfect tool, and its there to stay. Concentrate on being happy today, happy with yourself and your achievements so far, and make it your task, 3 times a day, every day, to make food choices that make you feel happy after eating

(and that doesn't mean crazy happy as in sweets and greasy foods, but proud happy as in i'm taking care of myself and my body's nutritious needs). That will also help with the PB's and nosy roomates who probably speculate now whether you are bulimic or something. (also, throwing up is not good for the band)

Have fun! enjoy your body today, dont wait for the one you dream you will have tomorrow, if you keep living in the future you miss all the fun today.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
