over researched and confused.

Banded 4/13/11 never vomit, no fill. Issue is I aways feel like something is stuck in my throat. I have read about stricture, dysphagia, and gerd, I am confused. It started when I went to mushies. Two weeks ago, doc said it would go away, it hasn't. Dr said I was eating to fast, I timed myself and took tiny bites. This is frustrating and scary. Any suggestions? Anybody else gone through this. Oh did a barium in front of an xray no slip. Thanks guys

Always, even when you're not eating or drinking? You just always feel something in there? Did you try going back to liquids for a few days? I was banded when you were so I'm just guessing... I hope your doctor can figure it out!

yep, i feel it all the time when i swallow. It is not painful just annoying. It is difficult to get my food in with this issue. I think the food is not going through the band because after just a few bites i feel like im backing up. I decided to try and drink pineapple juice to see if that would clear it and it does clear the food that feels like it is sitting above the band but even after the clearing of the food i still feel the issue.

I cannot figure this out. Tuesday cant get here soon enough. I am also frustrated because i find links from people who descibe what i have then it appears they go to the doctor and then they never post again. I will make sure I come back and post once I get my diagnosis so that I can assist others.

Did a full pre op before getting banded to include chest xray, blood work, ekg. All came back clear. I have no medical issues. No acid reflux, no diabetes, no sleep apnea, no high blood, no cholesterol. UGH! What I do have is high stress these days.

Thanks

This may not be anything to do with it but you never know. I get "spasms" in my esophagas when I eat certain foods and it feels like there is something in the back of my throat when it happens, like a tightess, feels hard to swallow. I had it happen to me when I would eat rice before I got banded. I have eaten a few times too fast since I have gotten banded and it felt the same way. Not sure if this is what it is but maybe you are allergic to something and it's making your esphogas react? Good luck with your doctor visit, be sure to keep us posted.

I am back as promised. Ok let me start by saying I am a worrier by nature. With that said I am absolutely fine. I have restriction with no fill. That's the answer. I got in a rut and was trying to eat even when I wasn't hungry. Example Breakfast lunch and dinner. This caused a full stuck reaction that I didn't know how to get out of. Sorta like a snowball or domino effect. Well my doctor said you have what most want. The difference is you have it with no fill. This is so true that everyone is different and what works for one may not work for the other. So time will loosen my band and I will do warm items in the am and my meals once I loosen up as the day progresses. I cannot follw the standeard 3oz of food or a cup I just can't get that in and it caused me to back up and then I would feel the stuck issue. I wasn't listening to my body but trying to get a certain amount of food in. So again I am learning to work with my band. For now I will drink my breakfast and lunch Protein and eat my dinner until I feel a little looser. I am excited 5 weeks out tomorrow and 20 pounds off....50 more to go....

are you still having the throat problem? What you described is exactly what I am going thru and it is driving me crazy. Maybe I am eating too much?! I just want the lump to go away...kwim? (know what I mean) My lapband dr told me to see an ENT or general dr because they say that my band is not too tight per the exrays that they are doing.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
