Need Refresher Course

Recommended Posts

Hi...First time posting. Had my surgery June of 2010. Managed to loose 25 lbs until Dec 1st hit!!!. Between being too tight, the holidays and the northeast weather, I ate more "holiday goodies", stopped my daily 4 mile walk and was unable to get my lean Protein down as I was getting stuck. Hence a 5 pound gain. Been back on track for a couple of weeks and have lost 2 pounds. Here is my situation...I don't feel restricted, feel very hungry between meadl and my meats get stuck sometimes. This tells me that perhaps I need an adjustment to loosen band, however, I don't feel restricted like I believe I should. Has anyone experienced this? I also have gotten myself in a sweet state where I feel I am craving sweets...Need suggestions or shared experiences to give me a boost. Love and respect the band but not being true to it 100% yet. Help me get there.

Are you willing to give up meat even for just a few months? If so I think you need a fill to really crack down on yourself. I really can barely eat meat at all and I can only have liquids in the morning but I need to be that way to lose weight. Its worth it to me and yes, I take Protonix for reflux and that is worth it too. I eat very tiny meals because I cant eat more than probably 3/4 of a cup and I am rarely hungry. Sometimes I get on the Jones for sweets too but I cant eat very much of it at least! But the other day I ate too much choc cake, too fast and had to yak! Well its all been worth it. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
